THE COMMITTEE’S CHOICE

Columbard Chardonnay “Duc de Chapelle” – Vin de Pay Côtes de Gascogne (2006)

This is a dry refreshing combination of aromatic lemony Columbard, which has been carefully balanced with 30% Chardonnay to add depth and roundness. It is selected from the cool Atlantic influenced vineyards of Gascogny. There is good weight and a creamy character on the palate whilst retaining an attractive grassy bouquet.

Niersteiner Gutes Domtal QbA – Schmitt Sohne – medium (2006)

From the vineyards originally worked by the Romans 2000 years ago, the Schmitt Sohne family produce a lovely light summer wine, Soft, very fruity and medium dry.

Cabernet Merlot “Duc de Chapelle” – Vin de Pays L’Aude (2006)

This is a very stylish blend of the Cabernet Sauvignon for body, backbone and blackcurranty flavours whilst adding the very soft plumy notes of the Merlot grape

PREMIUM SELECTION

Champagne Tribaut – Brut (2006)

Three years ageing produced a light fresh, vigorously youthful champagne with elegant, slightly, lemony nose, lively mousse and long crisp palate with hints of dried fruit and apricots.
White

Pinot Grigio “Ca’Luca” – Botter,Veneto, Italy (2006)

The Pinot Grigio from northern Italy is a clean well-balanced dry white with delicate perfume and fresh appley fruit. ‘Ca’Luca’ retains a refined acidity matching subtle peach and pear flavours lingering on the finish.

Sauvignon Blanc “Puenta del Inca” – Central Valley, Chile (2006)

Pale straw colour with a fresh aromatic nose, full of gooseberries and elderflower. A good crisp acidic balance gives this a lively zingy finish.

Shiraz Malbec ‘Avanti’ – Bodegas Borbore, San Juan, Argentina (2006)

The Avanti wines are the result of contemporary winemaking and the pure variety of fruit of Argentina’s San Juan province, north of Mendoza. Malbec is the flagship red variety of Argentina, producing beautiful ripe cherry fruit. Combined with spicy character of Shiraz it gives a soft easy drinking red with sweet cheery ad autumn berry fruits and rounded structure.

Rosé

Pinot Grigio Ramato “il Barco” - Botter,Veneto, Italy (2006)

Il Barco Ramato is a delicate salmon pink rosé made naturally using selected copper skinned Pinot Grigio grapes.
